Electrolysis (Galvanic)
Electrolysis was first founded in 1875 by DR Charles E Michel- an ophthalmologist who discovered, while treating a patient for an ingrown eyelash, that an application of a galvanic current could destroy the germinative cells in a hair follicle.
A Galvanic, or continuous current is released which creates a physio chemical reaction within the hair follicle and forms a corrosive substance, LYE which is destructive and destroys the germinative cells and tissues responsible for hair growth. The hair must be in the Anagen stage of growth.
Electrolysis has come a very long way since then. It once had a reputation for being painful and time consuming. It is now efficient and painless.
Thermolysis (High Frequency)
Thermolysis has been used in hair removal since 1938. A high frequency current is activated and heat is formed, which in turn coagulates the hair root albumin and the capillaries responsible for hair growth. Thermolysis is extremely efficient, with current activation taking only hundredths of a second.
Modalities: Picoflash, Meloflash, Multiplex & Synchro
Blend (combined Current)
Blend is a combination of thermolysis and electrolysis. The thermolysis warms the tissue to let the lye, formed from electrolysis travel further and more efficiently. Each insertion is between 4 and 10 seconds.
Modalities: Picoblend, Omniblend, Multiblend, Evolublend & Synchroblend
Hair
Growth of hair varies widely depending on; the area of the body of growth, what is happening inside your body (e.g. pregnancy, thyroid and hormone imbalance such as PCOS) Age (e.g. puberty & menopause) and factors such as medications can also play a roll.
Each hair growth cycle will also vary as each follicle is individual and will grow at different stages.
There are 3 stages of hair cycle;
- Anagen: the growth phase.
- Catagen: the transition period.
- Telogen: the rest stage.

Ideally the hair will be at the Anagen growth phase, where it is most hydrated and attached to the dermal papilla which is responsible for hair growth.
To get the hair in the Anagen phase we do an initial “clean up’ of the area, at this time there will be hairs at all stages of growth. The next step is consistency, the hairs need to be treated as they come to the surface, however some hairs may take months to re-surface.
The hair, not always, but in most cases will need a several sessions, as we need to destroy ALL germinative cells within the follicle, through this process the hair will get finer with each treatment until completely gone.
Cataphoresis
At the completion of each session, we apply a complementary Cataphoresis treatment*. Cataphoresis is a post-epilatory application which restores the skins surface acid levels to prevent bacterial reaction. It is a calming & sedative which decreases redness & nervous excitability, a germicidal and has an astringent action on sebaceous secretion and is a vasoconstrictor, so will close the ostium & pores.
